Looking back on 2019-2020 Note from CoPresidents

Sunday, June 14, 2020

Dear Wilburton PTA Members, WES Administration/Staff, Wilburton Students and Families,

As we look back on our 2019-2020 school year, our 2nd year in establishment, there have been so many great achievements and amazing memories as well as some challenging moments of which we all faced together. Our vision for this past year was that of transparency and organization. Wilburton PTA Board 2019-2020 is happy to report we have successfully established many processes which can be used year over year during the transition of incoming New PTA Board Members and annual PTA Members. We quickly established GSuites for Nonprofit productivity tool managed by an Administrator which assures us a much more professional and cohesive presence. Additionally, GSuites allows ease of access to all needed PTA documentation for transparency. Furthermore, we can maintain the website, engage in virtual meetings, and survey our PTA Members all in one central source. We continued to use Mailchimp for our monthly newsletters and Facebook for social media presence with the goal of maintaining strong levels of communication. This year PTA introduced AtoZ as the solution for a much needed School Directory which includes SMS and Eblast features. Not to mention allows our entire school to connect with one another with a simple click of a button. Treering continued to be our Yearbook vendor two years in a row. WASPTA also transitioned to Memberplanet tool to help manage PTA membership across Washington State.

We created a connected community through the following events that happened in the Fall: Scholastic Book Fair, Math Adventure and Gift and Craft Fair. We engaged close to 75 Students and Families and Teachers outside of school via MOD Pizza fundraiser. We were disappointed collectively that our trademark event in the Festival of Culture did not come to fruition as COVID19 took over our lives in March. Rest assured, we can’t wait for the next Festival of Culture!

Thank you to all our PTA Members who joined this year. It is because of you and your generosity that we have been able to raise $25,000 for our children, including your voice/vote for funds allocation and making needed changes. COVID19 threw a wrench in the funds that we allotted to our school this year but know that the school is looking to prepare for next year on how these funds can be reallocated. Please do not forget to renew your PTA Membership yearly, the earliest you can renew is July 1st.

Wilburton PTA is gifting a Gaga Pit for all WES current and future students. We know how much our children will enjoy this addition on their playground next year!

Thank you to all our PTA Volunteers. There were many school needs that we were able to fulfill because of your commitment to helping on campus and in our classrooms: Library Coordinator, Vision/Hearing, School Pictures/Retakes, and Room Parents for seasonal class parties. The more volunteers that step up, the more events PTA is able to sponsor.

Thank you to our Amazing PTA Board! We have learned more together and have formed friendships in the process that we are proud to have served alongside each of you! Congratulations to New PTA Board 2020-2021! So excited for next year!

We send a big hearty thank you to our Co-Presidents Mary and Sanaz who led us with such kindness, efficiency and fun through a year filled with new and unexpected experiences! And thank you to all Board members as they step down or into other roles for the commitment and time spent towards further enriching the lives of our children and our school community. - Michelle

Lastly, Thank you to all the Teachers, Administrators and Staff, Parents, Students and community members who have given your time and energy and partnership for making Wilburton an amazing school.

We appreciate you!!

Sanaz Nowtash & Mary Wendel

  • Wilburton PTA wants to Thank YOU for Your Generosity. As a result of your amazing donations, PTA raised roughly $915 in funds for DoorDash Teacher Gift Certificates. We already had a budget of $500. PTA spent a total $1250 on DoorDash Gift Certificates for 54 of our Wilburton Teachers and Staff. The remaining $335 will carry over into next year's Teacher Appreciation Fund. We know our Teachers appreciated the gesture and even shared some photos on Facebook.
