Helpful Information

Useful Websites

The Wilburton Elementary PTA website, http://wilburtonpta.org is updated regularly by the PTA.  This is your best access to all things Wilburton Elementary, including volunteer opportunities, calendar of events, online absence excuse box, online PTA membership store, opportunities to donate* and the latest news surrounding Wilburton Elementary community. You can sign up to receive weekly email blasts; but don’t assume that all new information is emailed. There are times when new information is posted and discussed at the PTA meetings and not included in the weekly emails.

You may also report an absence via this website. Important information about Wilburton Elementary school, its mission and vision could be found on the website, https://www.wilburtonpta.org/school/.

The Wilburton Elementary website, https://bsd405.org/wilburton/ is the official District website with school information, district policies, monthly newspaper issues, etc.

There is also a neighborhood facebook group called “Wilburton Elementary Community Discussion Group”. It is a resource for connection with Wilburton Wolves parents and guardians; and for those new to the area for anything from repairman to babysitters, as well as play dates and community events. This group is not affiliated with PTA and Wilburton Elementary school and run by parents and guardians.

School Supplies

Each year, the PTA offers parents the option to purchase pre-packaged school supplies for each grade level. This is not required, but it is a convenient and cost-effective way to buy supplies.

All supplies purchased through the PTA will be delivered to your child’s classroom at the beginning of the school year. You may buy these online in the end of the school year for the following school year via wilburtonpta.org.

If you arrive at Wilburton Elementary at the beginning of the school year or in the middle of the year school, you could purchase your own supplies, a grade-specific list of school supplies can be found at wilburtonpta.org: School Supplies Lists. You can also get a list from the front office.

School Lunch

If you plan for your child to purchase lunch from the cafeteria, either exclusively or from time to time, you can either send in cash or set up an online meal account.  To pay in cash, simply send the money with your child each time he/she buys.  Send the envelope with money labeled with your child’s name, ID # (you obtain from the office) and teacher.

To pay online, set up a meal account by going to “School” menu, then click “Lunch Menu” at wilburtonpta.org or by going to https://bsd405.org/wilburton/, click “Families” and select “Lunch”, then click “Pay for Meals”. Use this link to apply for Free & Reduced Priced Meals.

Parents are welcome to come join their child(ren) for lunch. Please know you will need your ID to sign in/out at the office. Kinder parents are asked to wait until November to come for a lunch visit to allow time for their child to get acclimated to their new school, schedule, and classmates.

ParentVUE

ParentVUE is a password-protected site that provides both parents and students access to course grades, homework, attendance, and other data. To set up your account, you will need to first obtain your activation key, it will be email by Bellevue School District.  Then go to the Useful links section at wilburtonpta.org and click on “ParentVUE” to set up your account.  Your password works for all students in your family attending Wilburton Elementary school.

Volunteer Opportunities

Anyone who wants to volunteer at Wilburton Elementary in any capacity, must be cleared through the Bellevue School District and undergo a background check.  All volunteers must re-register from year to year. To start the process, visit our “PTA” tab at wilburtonpta.org and click on “District Volunteer Registration”. You will need to fill out a quick form that requires your student’s ID. Once you receive clearance, you can participate in school volunteer activities. Typically it takes two to three days to be approved.

Please consider creating an account with the website Signup Genius, as all PTA and school volunteer activities will have sign-ups through this website. To create an account visit www.signupgenius.com, click on “My Account” and complete the form. This site will e-mail you reminders for volunteer activities, date and time you have chosen.

After you’re cleared by the district, email Alena, PTA volunteer chair, at president.wilburtonpta@gmail.com and let us know that you’d like to help. We appreciate your contribution and you could choose to volunteer at school or from home.

After School Programs and Activities

Arrival and Dismissal

The following are specific arrival and dismissal procedures to keep our students safe, and provide an efficient entrance and exit route to school.

K-5 Bus Riders: Students riding the bus will get off/on the bus at Location 1.  This area is to be kept open for buses.

K-5 Arrival: Students who are being dropped off by a car need to use the main parking lot.  Cars will enter off of Main Street and continue north around the perimeter of the parking lot, then follow south, where students will be dropped off at Location 2.  Please ALWAYS pull forward and NEVER park in this lane.  To keep the traffic flowing and the students safe, drop them off at the sidewalk by Location 2 where they will walk up the sidewalk and enter the building at the main entrance.  Never drop your child(ren) off on the street/drive lane side.

K-5 Dismissal:  Students who are being picked up will be walked out to Location 2.  Students will stand along the south side of the building and wait for their car to pull forward.  Adults will be present to make sure all students are safe.  Please pull your car forward and stay moving around the circular drive until you reach the students on the right hand side (Location 2).  Your child will then safely enter your car.

Note: This circular drive is a FIRE LANE and there is NO PARKING in a FIRE LANE.  Vehicles that are stopped and unattended can be ticketed by the Bellevue Police at any time during the day.  To ensure the safety of our students in case of an emergency, please park in the designated parking spots around the school and NOT in the fire lane.

K-5 Walkers: Walkers can use the walkways and enter the building at the Main Entrance (location 2).  Adults who are walking and picking up their students can wait outside of the school at Location 3 for their student(s).  Reminder:  For safety, always use marked or attended crosswalks on-site and off-site with your child(ren).  Please DO NOT wait by the front doors or in the main walkways from the school at dismissal time.

K-5 Off-Site After-School Program pick-up: Off-site after-school program participants will wait at Location 4 for pick-up by their program in the main parking.

Pre-School:  Please use the Early Learning parking spots.  Then, walk your child into the early learning center (across the parking lot from parking spaces by the early learning playground) and sign your child in/out for arrival and dismissal.

** If you drive your car and want to meet your student at Location 3, please park your car in a designated parking spot and use one of the parking lot crosswalks.  The circular drive is ONLY for those staying in their cars and picking up students.

Dismissal Reminders

1. Please DO NOT use the bus zone to drop off students. This area is for our buses only.  Cars should enter into our larger parking lot.

2. Please ALWAYS use a cross walk to cross the parking lot or street.

3.  If you are driving your child to school we recommend that you stay in your car and use our drop off system to drop your child off at the front of the school.  This is much safer than parking and trying to cross traffic and all of our students – from Kindergarten to Grade 5- know where to go and how to get to their classrooms in the morning. Being independent is a great skill to practice during morning arrival!

4.  No dogs are allowed on school grounds. We love dogs but for consistency and safety of all, no dogs are allowed.

As a reminder, school starts at 8:00AM. This means that students should be in their classrooms and ready to learn at 8:00.  The school doors open at 7:45 and our playground has supervision starting at 7:40.  This leaves plenty of time to get to school and get to the classrooms.  Teachers take attendance right after the bell rings and any child who is not in the classroom by 8:00 recieves an unexcused tardy.  The best way to prevent the tardy and to ensure your child is on time is to leave enough time to get to school and to the classroom early. We highly recommend riding the bus, if you have bus service!

Translations

If your child doesn’t speak English and he or she needs extra assistance at school we have Japanese, Korean, and Russian-speaking volunteers who could help your family and your child with the transition to a new school and setting a new routine. Email your Newcomers Committee if your child needs help.

* Wilburton Elementary PTA is applying for 501(c)3 status. Donations made now may not be eligible to deduct.
